Shadowing (2014)
Public Artwork, Various Locations
Shadowing gives memory to streetlights, enabling them to record and play back the shadows of those who pass underneath. The series of eight Shadowing streetlights continue to tour cities around the world through Matt's collaborative studio Chomko & Rosier. Shadowing is now available as a permanent public artwork, manufactured in partnership with Ark Lighting, with the first permanent Shadowing installed in Doncaster since 2022.
Shadowing has previously been installed in locations including Austin, Tokyo, Tel Aviv, Paris, London’s South Bank, the City of London, Bristol, York, Carlisle, Doncaster and Gloucester. It’s been nominated as a Design of the Year by London’s Design Museum and received awards including the Active Public Space Award.
