A directional heartbeat that guides participants in the footsteps of a historical character. For this experience, commissioned by Historic Royal Palaces, members of the public traced the final walk of Charles I on the day of his execution in 1649, from St James’ Palace to Whitehall. Participants received a wooden, heart-shaped totem with a haptic heartbeat that acts as a compass, increasing in strength when pointed in the direction of Charles’ walk. When participants reached the place of his execution, the Banqueting House, the heartbeat ceased.
